Wow, did we get dirty picking strawberries today! The great thing about Charleston is that there is always something going on. We had a great time picking strawberries at a plantation in Mt. Pleasant. They even had a bouncy things. We took a picnic and then got dirty! For all you visitor's, this Bed and Breakfast now features fresh strawberry jam! :)
As dorky as this may sound, I've actually found great relaxation in sewing while Tim is gone this deployment! Our friend, Jenni, helped us make this cute purse in an expedition that lasted into the wee hours of the morning (but was well worth it), and I made this quilt! What do ya'll think??
(yes, she is trying to drink out of the fountain....) So Tim's parents came for a visit this weekend and we walked around downtown Chucktown. My girlfriend Ali had a print of this pineapple fountain, which I was on a mission to find. Once we found it, we were quite confused by the sign that said "no lifeguard on duty, wade at your own risk." Come to find out, it has 3 steps going down into a little wading pool. Last summer, my girls wouldn't DREAM of getting wet at something like this. So, I was happy when they put their feet in. Then I was splashing Maddie around and she got her pants wet, which she promptly wanted to take off. Then it was the shirt...then the diaper. And this is how Maddie ended up the exhibitionist at the pineapple fountain. She had plenty of people stop and laugh at her! Both of the girls thoroughly enjoyed it!
My sister in law and neice came down and it was so wonderful to see them. I had only met my neice once before, when she was a baby. She is now 2!! Welcome to life in the Air Force. She is the cutest thing. Makenzie and Madelyn would call her "cousin Natalie" and she would look back at them, and, just as seriously as could be, say "no, I'm not cousin Natalie, just Natalie." We went to the zoo and fed the giraffes! BTW, doesn't my dad look like he's having a grand conversation with that giraffe. He's the "giraffe whisperer."
We took a trip to Colorado Springs to see my parents (MiMi and PaPa) for 3 weeks. We had a great time, saw lots of snow and "reindeer" (as the girls called the deer with antlers). But, most importantly, the time flew by which means we are another 3 weeks closer to Tim coming home! By the way, don't the girls look ghetto fabulous in their newspaper bags to cover their shoes?!? We don't need snow boots where we're from!
I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. John 16:33
